The normal recommended amount is 2,000 calories.
It depends how drastic you wanted your diet to be.
I would say do about 1,200.

If you want to lose weight- remember that 3500 calories= 1lb.
Visit http://www.caloriesperhour.com , which will allow you to input your current weight, desired weight, and your current level of activity. The site also allows you to track your daily caloric intake (like a food diary).

The average would be around 2000 calories a day. However it is dependant on you age, weight, height and gender. http://www.alfitness.com.au does just that and tells you how many calories you need to eat to lose weight, just take their diet profile. I started it last week and makes great sense to me n have already lost 2lbs.
