Whats A Healthy Daily Calorie Intake?
Ok here is my question I am a 22 yr old female and just started dieting…I significantly cut my calories and started excercising alot. I dont know much about this kind of stuff so what would be a healthy calorie intake daily? I think I am only doing about 800 a day.
Never, ever, ever for any reason let your caloric intake drop below 1200 calories. A healthy intake would be closer to 1500 to 1800 depending on your activity level.
Stop counting.
Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Please eat only when u r hungry and not more than three times in 24 hours. Take only water in between. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.
an average human adult human being should take in 1500 calories perday a growing child should take in 1800 a day
800 calories a day?! You’re going to pass out on the treadmill! You need AT LEAST 1200 calories a day; good healthy calories. Your body has to be able to recover from the excercise. If you are worried about calories but don’t want to be hungry, then plan out 3 meals and spread them through the day to make 5 or 6 mini meals. Eat lots of filling fibery foods, like pears, as snacks. I’m a big fan of the “What you put into your body you are going to get back from your body” mindset. If you undernourish yourself and don’t properly maintain you body’s needs, it won’t take care of you. Same with the foods you eat. If you are filling it with junk or “non-foods” (like ricecakes for examle- low in calories, but absolutely no nutritional value at all, so they are still a waste) that is the result you are going see and feel. Also make sure you are not running a calorie deficit. Your body needs a certain amount of calories to function. If you are burning off more calories than you are consuming and leaving none for you body’s daily function, you’re going to hurt yourself.
It truly depends on your height, weight, BMI state of health and age. Daily caloric intake must take those things into consideration.
For instance, children require more calories than most adults; and age has an impact on intake also.
Nutritionists base it on a 2,000 calories a day diet.
Healthy is to eat the amount of calories that your Lean Body Mass (bones, muscles, organs) requires every day to maintain itself. This is about 1300 for females, more for muscular females. It depends on your height, age and your body composition (how much lean tissue and fat you have). The rule of thumb that I have heard a lot is to never go under 1250 calories a day (for females).
Then on top of that, you just exercise whenever you can and this will result in slow weight loss, mostly FAT.
Eating 800 calories or less is called starvation or fasting, meaning that your organs, muscles and bones do not have enough calories and nutrients each day to maintain themselves and they will be wasted/ used up for fuel. This is not a good scenario at all!!!! it results in rapid weight loss but moslty MUSCLE tissue and water. It will also put you in starvation mode, shut down your metabolism and you will have terrible cravings. I’m not going to mention the damage you can do to your body this way, it would make my post too long…
Once you start eating more, it will all be stored as body fat, since this is a consequence of being in starvation mode. Think primitive times when we were running around butt naked looking for food for survival.
So… just cut your calories to where you still get enough (at least 1250 a day) and focus on fruits and vegetables and enjoyable exercise. This way your fat loss will be slower and permanent.
Teach your body every day that it will not have food shortage. You do this by always eating breakfast, then eating every 3 hours, so 5-6 small meals a day. This way your body knows it will always have food available, and it will NOT hold on to any excess body fat, it will gladly release it.
A healty daily calorie intake is between 2000 and 3000 a day.
800 is probably too little. Try going to http://www.caloriesperhour.com. They have calculators for how many calories you burn each day and how many you should eat to lose a certain amount of weight. Often, eating too little is worse because your body will slow your metabolism down because it thinks food is scarce. You should only eat 500-1000 calories less than you burn a day for good weight loss.
