Is 1600 Calories A Day, A Healthy Diet?

I’ve measured out all my foods for my daily menus, very light meals about 5 times a day, and it’s totaled to right around 1600 calories.
I plan on doing quite a bit of moderate exercise –
I weigh 184, I’m 5′6”, and I’m 18 years old.
I’m trying to get down to 130.
Is 1600 sufficient for a healthy calorie intake to lose weight at a gradual pace?

It really depends on your body, if you findout your BMIhttp://www.myeatingdisorder.com/myeating…
Then subtract 3-500 calories form this number, NEVER going below 1200 calories of course. That would give you the number of calories YOUR body needs to eat for gradual weight loss.
I personally eat a bout 1500-1600 calories a day and lose weight doing so. But I am also breastfeeding, when not pregnant or breastfeeding I eat closer to 1200 or 1300 a day.
Good luck to you, hope this helped!!!

If you want to loose weight than you should be on 1500 a day or even less, if you want to bulk up you want 3000 and above
but in your case you want to drop weight so try 1500 a day or below…

Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
