Calorie Diets… Do They Work?

i;ve heard that if you go on straight out low calorie diets, they don;t work because your body gets used to the low calorie intake, so i was wondering….
if i have 1350 calories one day and 800 calories another day and keep switching on and off, if that would work.
i know you should go under 1200, but it’s not everyday.
i need serious weight loss, so i was wondering if this would help.
and those who say to just eat healthy and exercise– i know!
sure you can do the talk, but can you do the walk?
it’s really hard to stick to a diet…
i try not to think of it as a diet and more of a change in lifestyle,
but still…
so would those calorie intake amounts for every other day work to help me lose weight?

I heard that doing the low-high-low-high calorie diets made your metabolism increase because it has to constantly get used to you intaking different amounts of calories a day. And yes, it’s true that doing straight low cal diets will slow your metabolism because your body gets used to it. So I think you should try the low-high calorie diet.

    Edit:
Remember to not buy junk food or fast food at all. Have plenty of fruits and vegetables around the house. Plan your meals ahead of time so you don’t overeat. If you binge on certain foods easily (cereal, bread, nuts, etc.), don’t buy them at all.
I know it can be hard to stick to a diet, but have a strong will and determination and you can do it. Good luck ^_^

yes, yes, yes you are right about all. switching everyday kind of tricks your body and raises your metabolism. i did 1200-1700/ day and one hour gym everyday and lost 30 lbs in 3 months. this will work!

Low calorie diets work as long as you’re exercising, but you need to allow yourself a cheat day every 3 or 4 days. Then you go back to the diet.

I don’t think it will. You won’t loose weight, you’ll keep the weight you have.
Have you herd of the show cook yourself thin? That’s a great show and you can cook the same meals you love, except with much less calories. Write down the recipes, and buy the ingredients. It’s a great show!
Also, to loose weight, do cardio. It’s the best workout. Don’t do things that improve your muscles because it will make you muscles bigger, which makes the fat stick out more. Keep moving and your heart pumping. That burns fat.
Also eat 5-6 LIGHT meals a day. NEVER skip meals because your brain thinks it’s starving it’s self and it stores fat. Eat a light breakfast, then a small snack (apple, fruit etc_ then light lunch, then a snack again and so on. NEVER snack at night too, because that’s bad.
To loose weight do cardio that targets the hardest places to loose first, once you’ve got the hardest place, everything seems easy
Here are the orders of hardest places to loose weight (backwards)
    10: lower legs, ankles
    9: lower arms, wrist
    8: cheeks
    7/6: neck
    5/4: feet/hands
    3: shoulders
    2: thighs
    1: Belly
Hope you loose weight! Hope it helps!
