On A New Diet And Need Some Help. Please Help?
I started a diet about a week ago which consists of high protein and low carb foods. I am 6′ 2″ 215lbs. and want to lose about 20lbs. to reach an ideal weight. I eat a lot of chicken, protein bars, baked beans, nuts, ham steaks, lunch meats but I also make sure I get vegetables a long with milk and cheese sticks. I eat salads about every other day with carrots and broccolli with light dressing and I also have a side of vegetables (mainly green beans and carrots) with any meal I may have.
MY QUESTION IS: With this diet I only eat about 1,000 calories a day but one day a week I will eat whatever I want and however much I want. Does eating whatever I want that one day help my body from burning too little calories each day since I do not consume many the other days or does do I need to be shifting my calorie intake each day? And does this diet sound like a good one? I want to lose weight fast and I can and burn as much fat as I can in the process. Any information would be greatly appreciated please let me know what you think.
Generally, any diet where you are taking in less than 1200 calories a day may hurt your weight loss long term by messing with your metabolic rate. Considering your size, I would not go below 1400 calories on any day. Some variation from day to day can help with weight loss, but I may not sure how much (or what) you are taking in on your day “off” your diet. Your diet does not seem unhealthy from your description, but eliminating several food groups (fruit and grains) is not recommended for the long term because you may be missing out on some nutrient you need. I noticed you did not address exercise in your question, and this is an important part of maximizing weight loss.
