If I’m Burning More Calories Than I Eat A Day, Why Aren’t I Loosing Weight Yet?

Hello I”ve been on a diet for about 2weeks now, and I keep my daily calorie intake to about 1200/day. I eat right, I have about 300breakfast/lunch/dinner, and 150cal for snacks in between. I exercise on almost a daily basis. I’m not on any diet supplements cause I wanna loose it the healthy way. I eat lots of whole grain, veggies, fruit, flax seed….etc. I keep track of my calories and exercise routine, and I burn more calories than I eat, how come I’m not seeing results yet??? I notice my clothes a little bit looser but nothing to brag about.

keep eating healthy. Make sure that when you exercise you get both cardio (for burning calories and get your heart rate up) and muscle building, which is most important. If you work on muscle building it will keep your body fit and you’ll start losing weight. Just stay on your healthy diet (forever if possible! make it a life style) and keep exercising! Just be patient!

I agree with Bob. Give it about six months before you can truly tell the difference. Carry on going with the good work though as you will definitely notice a lot of difference before the six months are up, probably starting from the six week mark.
Don’t get disheartened before a month or so if you aren’t loosing noticeable a amount of fat your body has been storing up fat for emergency energy all throughout your lifetime give your body time to adjust to your health plan and you will soon notice a difference. Well done, it sounds like you are doing really well, just KEEP IT UP.

it depends on how overweight you are currently. If you have a lot of extra weight, it takes time to notice a difference. Also, if you are already very very thin, it takes a lot to make you lose weight. If your clothes are loose, that’s a good sign! It means your body is becoming more toned. You should probably be exercising more… you said it was almost daily, but you should be working out for at least an hour a day. That might be your problem–just dieting, or just working out, are

muscle is alot more dense and weighs alot more than fat. the more you get toned and ‘tight’ the MORE you will way, of course you will look damn good too. weight is just the measure of gravity npulling on your body. it has NOTHING to do with how ‘hot’ you are. a man of 300 pound of muscle is NOT as large as a 300 pound fat man. you are doing great. you are building up muscle and burning fat. you are doing a good job. don’t worry about the weight. look in the mirror. keep up the good work. YOU GO GIRL!

maybe the scale isn’t going down ( maybe u weigh the same or similar) because ur gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. So u probably are loosing fat but gaining muscle..which is good lol. ps- are you going to the bathroom at least once everyday? if not take more fiber. Also, maybe try a colon cleanse b/c maybe ur backed up…(im not tryna b funny, im serious, it happens even if u drastically change ur diet)

It Sounds as if your on the right track. There are Various websites where you can get body mass index’s and dietary plans. I would also take an account how balanced your diet is Grains and flex seed are great but it’s all about balance. Dieting only works if your changing your whole regiment for life

it takes time, try to stay on the thing for at least 6 months, they say when you 1st go on a diet the 1st 2 weeks is when you lose weight the quickest after that it slows down as your body gets used to the reduced calorie intake

You need to work out more, try weights, and for the treadmill do 8% incline at 3.5 mph for 25 minutes. And are u doing more than a 60 minute workout each day. Also are you maintaining that workout everyday?

Please don’t get frustrated. Give it time.
If you are on any medications, like an SSRI, you will have a bit harder time losing, but it WILL come off.

Because you’re replacing fat loss, with muscle gain.
And it’s not like you’ll see any results in two weeks, anyway.
Try doing this for about a year, then you’ll see real results.

Burning calories means you are burning water, not fat.
The only way to lose considerable amounts of weight is to eat less fat.

You are probably gaining muscle. I’ve been doing the same thing for 3 weeks and am just now seeing the number on the scale going down. Just keep at it and don’t get discouraged.

Unless you are actually weighing your food or measuring it precisely there is little chance that someone knows exactly what they eat. It is estimated that we eat 20-40% more than we think we do.
Second, if you ar eworking out the first few weeks will be a fluctuation of water weight. After that stabalizes then it is entirely possible to lose little weight or even gain and still be exercising. What you are doing is adding muscle weight and losing fat.
Lean muscle burns more calories so it is ok to gain this weight. You will notice a change in the way your clothes fit, but don’t pay toooo much attention to how the scale reads.
apexfitness.com or fitday.com are programs you can use to estimate calories burned as well as input your own food and calculate your intake. It is tedious at first to track your food, but once you do then it will be easier to estimate what the correct portion sizes are.

you’ll notice it in the clothes before you notice it on the scale. get a measuring tape and keep track that way. because 125 flabby might weigh the same as 125 really fit, but the “fit” body will be tigner and toner and much slimmer looking (i dont know what you’re goal is so this is just a random number). remember that muscle is more dense that fat is, so if you burn some fat but replace it with muscle, the scale might not move, but like you said you’ll feel it in your clothes.
and give it at least 2 more weeks. by then you should see a little movement in the scale. but keep in mind thats only a number. use your measurments and your need healthy feeling as well in considering how well you’re doing with your “diet”. good for you!

okayy so first off.. this is the diet ive been doingg and its working great(:
first.. keep up w/ the veggie and fruits deal.X]
second.. don’t eat JUST breakfast, lunch and dinner! eat 6 times a day! don’t make your self stuffed like your going to explode.. but eat tell you feel satisfied and not hungry.. because when you are hungry (it is a proven fact) that your body takes away from the muscle and stores fat! so when yrr hungry get out a protein bar or something!
third.. when you can find the time (probably early in the morning) take a walk! but you must keep moving furr at least an HOUR!! this consistency will definitely help you!
and finally.. don’tt expect results so fast! it takes time but trust me the results will come!

Negative Calorie Foods

The phrase, "negative calorie food", as highlighted in negative calorie diet programs and books, usually refers to foods that allegedly require more energy to digest than they contain. Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
