How Do I Avoid Excess Calories After Extremely Hard Exercise?
I play tennis at a very competitive level, as well as train in Muay Thai. I generally burn 1000-2000 extra calories just from intense exercise for multiple hours daily. I’ve found that before my exercise, which usually takes place between 5-9pm, I have to up my calorie intake so i have enough energy to keep playing. I also have to combine this with a calorie enhanced beverage like gatorade or vitamin water. After my exercise I tend to eat about 1000-1300 calories (compared to my average meal of about 500-600 4-5 times daily) and if I eat any less than that I feel extremely sluggish and depleted. The next day I tend to have put on a little weight. I stick to a high protein diet, with a lot of carbs and low saturated fat. I feel like I am getting fatter as a result of exercise. Anyone have any tips? by the way I’m 6′0 tall and weigh between 170-175.
Avoid calories by not eating
You sound thin to me. The added weight could just be more muscle mass resulting from the exercise.
You may be craving food when what your body really needs is more water. Try drinking a lot before you have that after-exercise meal and see if you are satisfied with less.
