When Counting Calories, Does Fruit Matter?

Hi everybody!
I have been exercising and maintaining a healthy diet for the passed couple weeks in order to lose 7 pounds. I’m almost there, but because it’s the last 7 pounds, it’s very difficult to lose. My calorie intake, in order for me to lose weight, is about 1400 calories. I am trying to eat as much fruit as I can, but some have more calories then I thought…like 2/3 cup of blueberries is 90 calories…and a banana is about 100. So my question is, are the calories in fruit supposed to be included in my daily calorie intake?

I believe so but don’t make that stop you from eating them, because you have to be healthy, not just thin, and fruit will help you achieve that. (congrats on the way you’ve been dieting, more people need to do it like that!!)

Yes, they are included. Everything you consume is included in the calorie count, even if it is good for you.

Hi there. EVERYTHING COUNTS!!!! If it goes into your mouth and it has a calorie to count, you must count it!!!
Keep in mind, fruit sugars is better than regular white refined sugar because it stays longer in your body and can be used for fuel. But……….like all carbs (sugars ARE carbs), what you don’t burn, you will store as fat. All carbs (sugars too) will turn to glucose (body’s usable sugar) in your body in order for it to be burned as fuel. When not burned, it is stored for a later day as fat.
Now, cut back on all the fruit!!!! You need to be eating more green veggies….raw or cooked….never fried unless they are stir fried with cooking spray only.
Never, never, never, eat fats/oils!!!! They are only stored as fat. They serve no purpose whatsoever except to add fat. You’ll get all the fats your body needs in hidden fats.
Absolutely NO fried foods of any kind. Foods absorb the oil and wallaa!!!!!there’s your fats!!!!
Limit any carb (fruits included) and if it is white, it is a carb as well as all breads of any color. Limit them to one serving per meal only!!!! So if you eat cereal…..hold the fruit!!!
Eat only low fat/no fat dairy. Eat only sweeteners (splenda is good) and diet sodas etc.
Eat gobs of fish and skinless chicken, broiled or baked or microwaved. NEVER FRIED!! Eat pork as well as long as you can see no fat (no bacon and sausage)
If you can learn to eat this way which is healthy, you will lose weight and keep it off.
After you have lost your weight, you can increase your carbs to 2 servings per meal as long as your exercise continues .
Remember to count calories. A calorie is a unit measure of energy like a gallon of gas is a unit of measure for your car to run. Your body burns calories. If you eat more calories than you burn, they will be stored as fat. If you burn more calories than you eat, then your body will pull from the fat stores and turn them back into glucose so your body can then burn them and wallaa!!! you lose weight!!! Got it?
    Good luck

yes an apple has 120 calories

Of course! If you eat the blueberries, you have to include the 90 cals in the total.
Keep in mind, though, that the blueberries is supercharged with vitamins and minerals that are very important nutrition.
1400 is not a lot of calories, but if that is what it takes for you to reach/maintain your goal, each calorie will have to be nutrient-rich. :)
    Good for you, btw! :)

    fruits are good
at least, not as bad as the starchy stuff you get from bread / carbs and saturated fat.
you’ll only need 1 serving of fruit everyday.. so that is one fruit
