I Am On A Diet, But I Am Worried I Am Not Eating Enough, Is That Silly? ?

I am on a 1600 calorie diet to loose weight, like a lot of weight and since i have been meticulously counting my calories and fat intake I have noticed days where I barely eat, but I never go hungry. In two weeks I have had 2-3 days where I ate less than 1000 calories, even though I felt stuffed! Is eating too little even though I feel full going to harm my diet? For instance, today I ate only 829 calories, and I burned over 1007, so i think that really after adding those together I really am down a lot of calories, is that bad? I am new at this counting calorie thing so I am a little lost on it sometimes lol
Anyways, so is that bad when I have that little to eat? Should I try to eat more?

Haha, I read this thread and smiled. There is some mixed advice here but the fact is, there is truth in some of the statements – in a round-about way!
You are right to be counting your calories if you want to lose weight. That is the first step. I assume you calculated your BMR (the amount of calories your body needs each day to function).
If you want to maximize your fat loss you need to be eating approximately 15-20% below your BMR each day. Don’t go lower than this because your body will respond by retaining fat in a bid to stave off starvation. When you start drastically cutting calories your metabolic rate slows to a crawl and your fat burning capabilities are shot.
You should check out this diet program, there is a review here – http://www.squidoo.com/best-strip-that-f…
It may make things easier for you as it sets out a high quality plan and all you have to do is follow it. It is a long term diet and isn’t drastic.
So I hope this helps – good luck with your weight loss and make sure you take on board the RIGHT advice. I like to think that this is that kind of advice.
    Peace.

I agree with the above, don’t eat less you need to keep your metabolism up which is only done by eating more and exercising otherwise you will only lose muscle and water weight and not fat (and that will not be sustainable weight loss as you will gain it back). Try and eat 6-7 small meals everyday, good luck and force yourself to eat more often, small but healthy meals.

under 1500 will make your body think that you are starving. So as long as you stay over 1500, you will be fine even if you burn a lot of calories. :) . Remember to make sure you get enough of everything and not get stuck counting only how much fat/calories your eating.

Sometimes not eating enough and burning more than you eat will result in gaining weight. Your body naturally does this until you can supply with additional foods.

yeah..thats not healthy if you are burning more than you are consuming…just eat healthy and exercise..also eat about 6 or 7 small meals a day instead of a couple large ones..believe me..it works…
mmm melissa..you arent gonna burn any weight if you dont consume enough calories so the body can function.. so yes believe me i know what im talking about…I am a health freak..so please..if you think that its healthy to eat that little..i do believe it is you..who doesnt know what you are talking about

Its GOOD when you burn more than you take in! The guy above doesnt know much about weight loss I suppose…
Anyway, I think a lb is 3500 calories – so say that in a week you’ve lost 3500 all together that it a lb you will lose.
Be careful with what you are eating, you need to make sure your body is getting the vitamins it needs to keep healthy!
Make sure you’re not going hungry!
    And drink lots of water.
Don’t forget to do some exercise of a sort.
On another note – I’m worried that you’re not eating enough with so little calories, or you’re just amazing at finding the right things to eat. Try to stay around 1500 calories a day and exercise like I said.
    Good luck!
