Need Help Losing Pounds?
Okay, I’m 18 years old && am having trouble losing some weight. I used to be 125 in december && since have went to 150!! Bad right? I know!
I’ve tried the excerise thing && calorie watch, cut out soda from my daily diet && don’t eat out as much as I should.
I do a range from 150-350 crunches a day. && have only lost 4 pounds since june.
I need help!! Answers please!!
First, crunches DO NOT help you lose weight. In fact, crunches build upper abdominal muscle which will push out the layer of fat in that region, thus making your stomach look even bigger.
Second, calculate your BMR at http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ . Type in 125 pounds since that is the weight you want to be at. This is how many calories your body burns if you didn’t do any physical exercise all day.
Third, whatever your BMR calorie amount is, use that as your daily calorie goal for each day.
Lastly, get rid of ALL PROCESSED FOODS. If it’s stored in a can or a box (besides whole grain rice) don’t eat it! Lean proteins (not ribs or chicken wings), fresh vegatables, fresh fruits, and WHOLE grains or WHOLE wheat. Remember, if it doesn’t say “whole” then the product is cheating you. Also, try to limit your bread intake because breads/grains are high in calories and not really that filling. Fruits, vegetables, and protein will fill you up. Additionally, try not to use many dressing or sauces. They are loaded with calories and nasty chemical preservatives. Olive oil, vinegar, and most vinegarettes (in moderation) are just great.
Eat these natural foods in small meals (4-6 time per day) so that you’re never hungry, and do some moderate exercise that you enjoy. For me it’s basketball, walking my dog, and short weight lifting sessions. If you exercise a few times per week, eat only natural foods, and watch your portion sizes (and calorie intake), I guarantee you will lose weight. Also, this no-brainer: NO FRIED FOOD!
Most importantly, do not change your diet in this way just to lose weight!!! Changing your diet is about becoming healthy and enjoying foods that are natural to the human body. Losing weight and becoming lean is just the side-effect (albeit a great one).
Jake’s absolutely right, crunches won’t do anything except make you better at doing crunches. You can’t lose weight in just one place.
